Summary:
In a recent update, Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis, CEO of Pi Network, revealed plans to release the much-awaited roadmap in two versions—v1 and v2. The news came from Pi News Media, a top source for Pi Network news, through a post on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter.
Pi News Media confirmed that the mainnet roadmap v1 will drop in mid-October, with v2 following in the fourth quarter (Q4). The media outlet verified this information by publishing an image of the CEO's statement from Discord.
However, the announcement stirred some confusion and discontent among users. In the comments on Pi News Media's post, one user named Gideon 6ix questioned the timing. "Isn't mid-October already in Q4?" he asked. Another user pointed out that the CEO hadn't mentioned which year.
Danilo Cortez Jr., another user, speculated from the CEO’s statement that Roadmap v2 could line up with Pi Day in 2024:
“Mid-October falls within the fourth quarter of the calendar year. Unless @nkokkalis was referring to the fourth quarter of the fiscal year, it suggests that the unveiling of V2 will likely happen between January and March 2024, possibly coinciding with Pi Day,” Cortez wrote on X.
Some users also criticized the CEO's decision to announce on Discord rather than on the official Pi Network app. The delay in releasing the roadmap also led to questions about the protocol’s credibility.
The community now waits eagerly, albeit with mixed feelings, for the promised roadmap and further clarifications.
What is Pi Network?
Pi Network is a mobile mining blockchain with an application that lets people earn Pi coins by doing simple tasks on their phones. However, the project remains in its development stage, with the delivery of an open mainnet still a matter of speculation, with no launch date confirmed.
With this in mind, the protocol remains in its testnet stage. It will apparently go live when many users (Pioneers) complete the mandatory KYC procedure while the core team works on developing its ecosystem.
Pi Network is also reported to be under investigation by authorities in Vietnam, and users should exercise a high degree of caution when interacting with the project and ensure they have conducted sufficient research before doing so.
